Saladbox and Regatta Styling Contest Experience | What I Wear | MarkMyName

As many of my friends were asking why my photos are online handing paddle on Regatta outfit and a Rayban shades, and garnering 300++ like on Instagram, here’s the story.

One day while I’m browsing over my facebook newsfeed, I saw a post for Saladbox x Regatta Styling Contest in partnership with several fashion bloggers (male and female). The contest has 2 phases – Phase 1. Create a mood board using the latest collection of regatta posted on their facebook account. Post the mood board publicly and hashtag all the required tags. Winners for the Phase 1 contest are asked to attend the Phase whereby the online winners will be partnered with Regatta’s partner blogger/ stylist and they will work together for a certain styling challenge in-store.

I arrived at Regatta, SM Megamall with my friend (Enol) at 10:00am as instructed. I’m wearing my adidas climate shirt black, jeans and adidas climacool shoes. Soooorrrryyy:( I have a meeting with a sports events company that day so I need to look sporty hehehehe....

While waiting for the program to start, I’m checking on cool stuffs in the store. I always admire the marketing behind this brand. Very clear branding, very distinct and every collection really speaks of the brand—laid back, comfortable, always summer…

Phase 2 started with a challenge of picking up clothes for the online winner and styling them but the twist is that whole outfit must not go beyond Php 1,000 peso budget and styling time limit of 30 minutes. It’s also a must that the whole look embodies the Regatta brand.

We've checked out several mix and match. Tried several colors and cuts, but my favourite of course is the sando and the short. Though none of their clothes perfectly match my super-sporty shoes wahahaha…
15 minutes before the deadline, the program host announced that they are adding additional Php1, 000 on the budget making the whole outfit worth PhP 2,000. But even before the budget increased, we've already decided as to what pair of clothes to present…
After presenting the outfits, there’s another challenge wherein the stylist blogger needs to upload photo of the outfit on their Instagram account and check whose going to get the highest number of likes in 10 minutes.

So while waiting the result, we took a chance to enjoy this nautical inspired cupcakes… chocolate moist care with cute lifebuoy soft icing on top.
The winner for In-store styling...

The winning team for highest likes... garnering 50 likes on instagram in 10 minutes... Thanks to all the followers of Michael and to those who liked the photo... thanks also to all the #hashtags wahahaha

Photo opt of all the event participants... I didn't get a chance to talk to them all because I'm shy :) lol...
As a prize, I got PhP 2,000 worth of shopping gift certificate from Regatta which I also consumed that day... and sarap pala gumastos ng di mo iniisip na may mawawala sa budget  mo wahahahha

Check out the latest store of Regatta at 3F SM Megamall Bldg. A Mandaluyong City.

Trying a New Craze --Magnum Manila

While I’m doing some field work in Taguig, I finally got the chance to see and finally rove around SM Aura. There are lot of new restaurants to try in this mall. New concepts, some are international franchise, and some are Filipino pride. For now let’s just talk about some pleasure…

I remember the first time I tried Magnum, I didn't liked it that much maybe because I find it too expensive -- P50/ pack and I don’t find something so special about it that complements the high cash outlay.

Magnum craze stopped for a moment after launch until early this year when Magnum Manila started to operate at SM Aura, Taguig City. It is actually a concept store of Ice cream or let’s just says it’s a marketing campaign of Unilever to sustain the craze of Magnum especially on social media… effective enough for the brand to be talked about. Getting extra mileage huh… lol
Lot of my friends have already experience this new trend of dessert which I always see on my facebook feed.  One day I happen to pass by SM Aura while doing some field work so I got the chance to visit Magnum Manila.

People are really getting crazy about it, that you really have to wait on a long queue.
The whole interior of the shop is a mix of colors gold and brown making you to crave for chocolates… hahaha
They both offer to-go and dine-in. The DIY or Make-Your-Own Magnum is for to-go which cost P100 only. At first, I find again expensive but let me just judge it. Hahaha
DIY Magnum start from you paying in the cashier hahahah

Choose your base Ice cream. Pick whether chocolate or vanilla. Vanilla is highly recommended that it perfectly blends on any sweet coating.

Coat It. Just like the Magnum Ice cream from the supermarket, it’s thickly coated with the finest Magnum chocolate—white, classic, Infinity dark or gold.

Top It. Taking your choice from a unique especially selected range of classic, special and experimental toppings.

Drizzle It. Select from Magnum chocolate drizzle-- white, classic, Infinity dark or gold.

Set It. Take a moment for the freshly made Magnum develops. It’s also your chance to take a photo of it and SHARE it to you social media friends hhehehe..
Love It. Seriously, this is far different from the regular Magnum Ice cream that you can buy in the supermarket.

My own Magnum Ice Cream -- thick dark choco coating in a vanilla ice cream and my choice of toppings are pistachio, queso de bola and chocolate crunchy balls, drizzled with white chocolate -- Perfect for dessert!!!

Sadly, since this is just a marketing campaign of Magnum, I've learned* that the store is really intended for branding and shall operate only for a year.

If only there’s a Magnum Manila, this could have been my choice of dessert for Fridays. Ahahha …

Truly, a day without pleasure is a day lost.

Explore Ilocos Sur: Choose Pinili Beach

First beach resort that comes into your mind when you think of Ilocos (in general) is Pagudpod, due its incomparable breath-taking beauty.

However, in our quest for discovering some undiscovered beach resort in Ilocos Norte, we found a non- commercialized beach resort in Badoc.Four hours ride from Vigan. The resort is located in the in the middle of residencial section of the barangay. It's accesible to the main road and some sari-sari stores.

Beauty-wise, the I love the idea that its a virgin resort .... I love virgin (resorts lol) hehehe..

At the seashore, sand is not that fine but once your dip into the water, the sand is very fine that you can even make it as facial scrub. Sand color is grayish to black... so it's something different, very unusual...
No entrance fee. Cottages are available for PhP1,500 overnight. For day stay cottage is P800 only.  All fees within the resort will go to their barangay fund for their community projects.Since it's a non-commercialized resort (no resort name), there are no fancy facilities , there's only one shower room per gender (1 for male , 1 for female) wherein you have to pay P10 every shower.

If you want to try boat ride to the other part of the beach, some resident fishermen are offering it for only P20 per head. On the east side of the resort is an old bridge that connects the resort part to a damaged mansion believed to be owned by Marcos family.

The view of the damaged house reminds me of Corregidor Island.
When visiting the old, be sure to wear your thick slippers because there are plant thorns all over the place. Below is the side of the house facing the sea area. From there you can enjoy watching the beautiful view of the sea...

Some debris of the old house can be found on the sea. The water is very clear and inviting but swimming on this part is not recommended.

An old terrace is standing beautifully just few meters away from the mansion. If everything is still up , the terrace would be the best place to have dinner while watching the sun as it sets.

This is the view of the beautiful sunset from the old terrace.
On the other side of mansion is a veranda with a "Mosque" archi.

The break-water where the sun strikes is where the old mansion located.

On our way to the old mansion...

Relaxing trees and sky view during sunset.

This is the west part of the resort where in there are some domesticated fishes...

No on in the area explains the reason or history of this place, all information are based on the conclusions made by some residents.

What I like about the Pinili Beach.
  • Fine and gray color sand...
  • It's raw-- no facilities, no hotels, no cottages, etc.
  • It's clean -- the community hand in hand helps to maintain the cleanliness of the resort.
  • Good advocacy as the proceeds will be allotted for the development of their barangay.
  • There's a good access to mobile network, mobile internet and sari sari stores.
  • The old mansion spice up my curiosity on history about the wealth of the Marcos' :)
What I don't like about the Pinili Beach.
  • Cottages are not really for overnight stay. No beds.
  • Water supply on the shower rooms is limited.
  • It's low tide when we went there.

Must haves
  • Bring your enough potable water.
  • Charcoal if you have plan to cook.
  • Utensils for the food - knife, plate, cups, spoon, etc.
  • Flashlight, if you wish yo catch small crabs during night (another activity you might  want to try).

We kept on dreaming of going into fancy and luxurious beach resorts, yet we forgot that the Philippines offers other choices... choose Pinili...

Together let's travel,

Explore Ilocos Sur: Baluarte Ni Chavit

It's the fulfillment of my childhood dream to visit Ilocos. hahaha :) Since, I was a kid my parents used to go in there for some family get away but I never got the chance to be with them due to so many reasons -- exams, sickness, etc.

May 09, 2014, I finally got a chance to visit, Ilocos Sur, for the first time because a balikbayan family friend invited us to come over during their town fiesta at Vigan. The group-- my family and some family friends went there as early as May 07 and since I still have work on that day, I decided to come over during weekend only.

First stop, visit Baluarte ni Chavit.

Baluarte is a 80 hectares field, trail, hills, owned by former Ilocos Governor Chavit Singson. Main attraction of the place are the zoo, horseback riding, butterfly garden and other petting activities.

It was hot Friday morning, we're heading to the beach when we decided to drop by and visit Baluarte. It was not originally part of the plan but we want to maximize our trip.
I was trying to figure out what to wear at Baluarte when I realized I want a "Safari" peg. But, I was not able to bring with me khaki shorts and polo so just to put an element of safari on my wardrobe, I wear my boots.

Family picture of course! Never mind the heat:(

To feel the safari effect. put some dust on the photo... and tiisin ang init... hahahhaa

Relax and play with butterflies at Baluarte's butterfly sanctaury.
Take the center stage and grab a photo with this cute "white" birds...

The jeje in boots hahahha

while relaxing, its also a perfect timing to catch up with an old time friend who just came back for a vacation all the way from Dubai :)

My mother should be the one wearing boots, what do you think? hahaha

Ito po si Kuya Kim... ahahaha playing with the birds... :) lol

this fury animal cuddling on my neck... hahahah nakakakiliti :)

Take a photo on their dinosaur statues. hehehe
Of course don't forget to embrace the sun... feel the heat... have fun!!! :)

Visit to Baluarte is FREE of any charge. In fact, they discourage any donations. There are sections/ area like photobooth and photo opt with animals which require donation fees.

Baluarte basics:
  • It is important to rehydrate all the time.
  • Wear your most comfortable outfit, of course fashion is still needed... speaking of comfort, don't worry, I'm comfortable with boots :p hahaha..
  • Wear sunblock, cap, sun glasses, lip balm and /or anything that can protect your skin against sun UV rays.
  • Your best ever camera-- always capture every moment.
If you love nature and pet, Baluarte is a must visit in Vigan!

Up Next: other Ilocos Sur Expedition! hehehe
