Joining a marathon is not a joke. That's I what I kept on saying to myself. It's been 5 months since the last time I did some serious running. Each night before I go to bed, I kept on saying to myself that I will wake up early tomorrow to do a bit of exercise. Unfortunately, ended waking up late and no time for exercise. Fine, I'm just lazy and I'm trying to make excuses. wahahah:)
Maybe I just missed those times last year when, I really pushed myself to be healthy. From choice of food, daily routine and lifestyle, It was really a turn around for me. I never believed that fitness should be one time shot, It should be a way of life which I unfortunately failed to live.
In my quest for the road to marathon, let me share my new adventure.
Running or any sport requires endurance, energy and most importantly focus. Yes! focus on the goal and removing all the distractions. :) Because when you have focus, you can stretch your capacity, balance your thoughts and breathe a good perspective.
Together with my officemates, we tried to enroll in a yoga class at yoga+ Makati for an unlimited 1 week session. Perfect timing for my preparation to 42K run a month from now. It is our 2nd day session and I am personally enjoying it. It reminds me the feeling when I was still a theater member and doing warm up before a workshop. wahahaha seriously? lol
We first attended the Warrior Flow which is recommended for the newbies. Basic stretching and pose. Each class last for 90 minutes where you are only allowed to breathe through nose :P
On our second day, we had Flow, which is almost the same with the first class only more complex poses. This class I consider the level 2 of what we previously did.
The third class we attended today is really hot and will surely get you wet. Hot A class where the room is at 36 degree heat and there are aroind 15 to 20 students. Stretching is a bit same with flow but is more extensive, I must say. Plus the pressure of the temperature made it more difficult.
Things to remember in a yoga class. Breathe through the nose. Inhale and exhale. Listen to your body. Know the difference between good pain and bad pain. Free your mind from distractions and keep your eyes on single focal point.
Yoga I think will help a lot in my training as it will built strength on my lower body which is very important on the race. It also teaches me to become more focus on the things I want to achieve by clearing up my mind and removing distractions. Though at times I find it hard to concentrate as I always want to laugh whenever I see my colleagues doing the posts and hearing the instructor commanding.
Just hoping It will work!
